Mooers Society

Ensuring AUWCL's Long-Term Success

Mooers SocietyWashington College of Law’s Mooers Society was established in 1990 to acknowledge individuals who have included the Washington College of Law in their estate plans and have named AUWCL as a beneficiary (revocably or irrevocably) in their will, life insurance, charitable gift annuity, charitable trust, retirement account, or similar vehicle.

Individuals who include AUWCL in their estate plans and make their intentions known to the university are invited to accept membership in the Mooers Society. The Society is named in honor of the Mooers family to recognize their involvement with AUWCL for nearly a century. Edwin A. Mooers, 1914, and his son, Edwin A. Mooers, Jr., ’41, were students, alumni, and faculty members of this law school. Edwin A. Mooers, Jr., a founding member of the Mooers Society, made a transformational gift to the school through his estate.

As members of the Mooers Society, you will be acknowledged in AUWCL publications (anonymity request respected), invitations to special events throughout the year, and personalized, professional charitable gift planning assistance.

If you are interested in making a gift at any of these levels, please contact Kelly McCarthy at (202) 274-4236 or kellyam@wcl.american.edu.
